Article 3

Fees for inventions, Industrial Design & Trademarks from abroad are paid in US Dollars or equivalent currency recognized by the Central Bank of Somalia. If a Somali person or company resides in the country, the fees will be paid in Somali shillings, in accordance with the Tariffs attached to this Act.

Article 4

The Industrial Design Protection Period is 7 years from the date of registration of the Compensation application recognized by the Office.The trademark protection period is 10 years from the date of registration and recognized by the Office.

Article 5

This Law shall come into force upon the signature of the President of the Somali Democratic Republic (JDS) and shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Somali Democratic Republic before the Legislative Assembly for enactment. Mogadishu, 8 Dec, 1987
